How to work from home for seniors
First question is Why? The “Why” is a big question
There are many different ways to make some extra money online. Some are very easy to do and some other’s that require work and time. It all depends what kind of income your looking to generate. In my post of how to work from home for seniors, we will look at some of the most popular options.
But the question remains, what are you trying to accomplish and why? Do you need some extra income to help with bills? Do you need something to occupy your time? Make some extra income for a nice vacation? Or do you want to start an online business to sell your own products/crafts or someone Else’s to produce a steady passive income?
Deciding what kind of work/job you would like to pursue
Working for others: If your looking to work for others to earn some limited amount of income but as steady as you decide, there are jobs like, getting paid to watch TV, getting paid to listen to the radio, proof reading documents, serving as a mock juror or selling coupons.
These ideas can be found here.
Work for yourself: This is where the “Why”matters most. To work for yourself is to create an online business. The benefits can be great, but it does take work initially. So you need a strong why to keep you motivated to keep going. Building an online business that will produce a steady passive income stream will take months before you start to generate some traffic and in turn income.
Time patience and determination: You need to be able to get through the time of building your website with no activity, which can be discouraging. To work on your site every day for 90+ days and not see anything happening with your site, is the toughest time to get through. But the ones that can do that, will reap the rewards.
The most successful online businesses: They are the ones that keep going ahead even when things looked dismal. They keep moving forward, some make mistakes and start over and became better at what they were doing and found success.
Understanding what it will take: 90% of all new online business start-up’s fail. And that figure is all too accurate. But that 90% are the ones that have gotten to that 3 month time frame and got so discouraged that they just give up.

I tell you this not to discourage you from starting an online business, but so you understand what it is going to take to get there. But if you get past that point in building your business, you will find success.
Its at that point when you start to get traffic and start making the sales, that you get to reap the rewards of all your hard work to get there. Its at that point when you start to have a steady and growing passive income that can last for as long as you want, with less work.
What is your passion: One of the 2 most important things you need to start building your own online business is your niche. A niche is a product or service that is focused on a small group of individuals. Your niche has to be something you have a passion for, something you will enjoy writing about and build your website around.
You have to narrow down your niche to what I refer to a focused niche. For example: Let’s say you love golf and want to create an online business. Golf is too broad of a niche. So lets say you want to focus your business on golf clubs.
Still too broad of a niche, there are putters, all kinds of wedges, irons, metal woods and then all the different brands. On top of that there are kids clubs, women’s clubs, men’s clubs. Do you get my point? [Read More]
Building your own website for your own products/crafts: This is easier as far as choosing your niche because you have it already. You may create Christmas ornaments, or ceramic trinkets that you build and design yourself. Or wooden picture frames that you like to build in your shop, or knitted slippers and socks. Whatever it is, you can create a nice business if you have time and patience.
You’ll need a little more finances for selling your own products for several reasons. Your going to need a shipping materials, which includes boxes, Styrofoam pellets, tape, etc. You’ll also need some extra capital for the materials to make your products. Read more about this here.
Building an affiliate website: Affiliate websites are the most common websites today. Almost every online business is an affiliate site. Every site needs to generate income in some way to survive. So even someone with a blog site is selling something. Learn more about affiliate websites here.
The example I used above about golf clubs would be an affiliate website. And as I was pointing out, you can have a general niche, but you need to get it more focused to be successful online. To build an affiliate site on the subject of golf clubs would not work.
You would have so many external links on it that you’d be hard pressed to get ranked by google and therefor find it difficult to get traffic. But if you built a site about golf club drivers, that’s a good focused niche. With that your main focus would be on giving reviews of the different drivers and the different brands.
Review of the outlook for affiliate business 2017-18
No one can tell you how the search engine algorithms work except maybe a google worker, but I can tell you that they don’t like to see too many external links. They like sites that are full of information, are helpful and are interactive with your customers/visitors.
One more example of a focused niche: Lets say you love cats. Now think about all the toys, beds, collars, leashes, foods, treats, carry cages, scratch pads, medicines, kitty litter, etc. Just too broad of a niche. Lets say you chose beds. Your site can still end up Hugh if you brainstorm a little about it.
Not just the beds but pages on maybe problem and solutions, like how to stop your cat from scratching your couch. Interactive pages where your customer can leave a picture of their cat or a story about tricks their cat can perform.
A page of some unique “poop houses” for lack of a better way of saying it. My daughter just bought one that looks like an old phone booth.
The second most important thing you need once you have your niche is a plan. You need to write down a business plan if you want to make a successful online business. We make plans for having a BBQ, or going on a vacation, why wouldn’t you make a plan for something as important as a business?
Think of it this way. Where are you right now? Where do you want to get too? And Why do you want to get there? Don’t just read these questions, think about them and answer them. Whatever your goal is, write it down, find a picture that reminds you of it and hang it by your desk or work place so you see it every day. [Read More]
No website = No business
Other than your time that you put in this will be your first financial decision. You will need to buy a domain name, have it hosted on a website hosting platform so you can build your site. I have reviews of different website hosting platforms here.
The big question you have to ask yourself, and be honest about it, is do you have the knowledge to build a site or are you going to need training? The majority of the website hosting platforms I review have limited training for anyone that is new to building an online business.
If your going to need training for every step you need to perform along the way,
you can view my #1 pick here.
If you have no money to invest but are still serious about wanting to build an online business, there is a way to do this and that information can be found here.
If your having trouble with getting your niche focused, leave me a comment and I will get back asap and help you with getting your niche focused down for you.

I wish you all the best with your new venture
